Getting Around
Upon arrival at the Owen Roberts International Airport, continue through the airport past baggage and outside to the pick-up area. Here, vans and mini-buses offer passenger service to local hotels for a fixed fee.

Hotels in the Cayman Islands are not allowed to send a courtesy van for airport pickup so be prepared to pay for a ride or rent a car.

Transportation around George Town and throughout Grand Cayman is easy. Take your pick from taxis and group vans as well as rental cars, jeeps, bicycles, and scooters.

TAXI CHART
Fares from Owen Roberts International Airport to:

Sunset House $12
Enterprise B&B $15
Smith's Cove $13

Car Rental
Renting a vehicle for at least part of your stay is often the easiest and most economical way to get around, especially if you plan to explore. Car rentals begin at about US $30 per day.

A temporary driver's license is required; you can obtain this from the rental agency by presenting your valid driver's license and paying the US $7.50 fee. You must be 21 or over to rent a vehicle, 25 at agencies. Insurance policies of some rental agencies do not cover drivers under 25.

Remember that driving is on the left side throughout the Cayman Islands. Most vehicles are right-hand drive; most 4x4s have a left-hand stick shift.

On Foot
With the low crime rate in the Cayman Islands, travel on foot is fun and safe. Walking is the easiest way to get around George Town, especially along the waterfront area. Remember, however, to look right when crossing the street.

Guided Tours
Guided tours are an excellent way for first-time visitors to get a good overview. Guided tours are available from most taxi drivers for about US $37.50 for four persons per hour; you can also check with your hotel tour desk for possibilities.
